The good news is the Mysore Railway Museum is getting a facelift. There is going to be lots of new things added to the already wonderful collections of rare railway locomotives, carriages etc.
Mysore Railway Museum
The disappointment is that the tourists to Mysore will not get to see the rail museum for another three months. The renovation started sometime in March 2019 and was supposed to be complete by now (DH News).
We all know the Dasara season sees huge tourist inflow and given that the rail museum is one of the most prominent places to visit in Mysore, the renovation should have completed by now.
I captured these photographs from the museum site last week (Sept 2019) and the images are nowhere indicating sooner completion. Not before Dasara for sure.
The Mysore Railway Museum was established in 1979 and is now getting a facelift with the budget of 400 million rupees (approx.). Once the restoration is completed, the railway museum will have new landscapes, path ways, audio visual center, cafeteria and even a children’s play park.
We hope the Mysore Railway Museums opens to the visitors with the fresh look at the earliest. Meanwhile, let us explore other Mysore tourist places.
